Technical Details

This is a Trojan downloader program. This Trojan downloads other programs via the Internet and launches them on the victim machine without the user’s knowledge or consent. It is a Windows PE EXE file. It is 4,608 bytes in size, and packed using PE Pack. It is written in Assembler.

Payload

Once launched, the Trojan causes the following error message to be displayed:

In spite of the error message, the Trojan will be run on the victim machine.

The Trojan downloads the following file from the Internet:

http://www.eg***evsk.net/bot.exe

It will save this file to the Windows system directory as “drvmmx32.exe”:

%System%drvmmx32.exe

It then registers this file in the system registry:

[HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun]
 “main_module”=”%System%drvmmx32.exe”

The downloaded file is then launched for execution.

Removal instructions

If your computer does not have an up-to-date antivirus, or does not have an antivirus solution at all, follow the instructions below to delete the malicious program:

  1. Delete the original Trojan file (the location will depend on how the program originally penetrated the victim machine).
  2. Use Task Manager to terminate the Trojan process:
    drvmmx32.exe
  3. Delete the file downloaded by the Trojan:
    %System%drvmmx32.exe
  4. Delete the following registry key:
    [HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun]
     “main_module”=”%System%drvmmx32.exe”
  5. Update your antivirus databases and perform a full scan of the computer (download a trial version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus).
