Class: Trojan-Clicker

Programs classified as Trojan-Clicker are designed to access Internet resources (usually web pages). This is done either by sending appropriate commands to the browser or by replacing system files that provide “standard” addresses for Internet resources (such as the Windows hosts file). A malicious user may use Trojan-Clicker programs to: increase the number of visits to certain sites in order to boost the number of hits for online ads conduct a DoS (Denial of Service) attack on a particular server lead potential victims to viruses or Trojans.

Adversaries may abuse Regsvr32.exe to proxy execution of malicious code. Regsvr32.exe is a command-line program used to register and unregister object linking and embedding controls, including dynamic link libraries (DLLs), on Windows systems. The Regsvr32.exe binary may also be signed by Microsoft.
